Martin Olsson
 I
have always enjoyed physical activity. Even though I have enjoyed
dance, my need for activity has always been expressed through
running, swimming, aerobics and by playing golf
My
first experience of Salsa was in Chicago 1998 where I took a one
hour beginner’s course
The
character, rhythm of Salsa music, the movement of the dance and
the combination of all of these closed and open positions caught
me immediately. For me there is no other dance like it
I
am a golfer, and one thing I have seen playing golf, is that it
is hard to grasp the concept that there is always something more
to learn regardless of which level you are at. This is the same
in Salsa, there is always ways of developing as a dancer. This
concept always drives me back to the dance floor
Salsa
is a perfect way of getting in touch with new and interesting
people
I
took a beginner’s courses with Orlando, another course with
Rasmus, the a few for Linda and Alvaro, after which I took my
first course with Robin and Lisa at Salsa Sabrosa 2002. Later
on I tried a few courses with Juan Carlos Ramirez and Johan &
Alexandra’s in the linear Salsa styles and have also enjoyed
Oli’s Rueda classes
By
participating in the Sabrosa group I feel that the intensity when
training has been a positive experience. This has in turn led
to me participating in a few performances with the group, and
has been an amazing and exciting experience
I
have attended many Salsa congresses and workshops over the last
few years, held by Manja & Reynold, Osiel Ibañez and
Ibi & Marina
The
weeks in Cuba with Harmony travel in 2006 improved my Salsa. It
was also a very exciting experience to realize that it’s
possible to learn a dance in Sweden and travel across the world
and dance Salsa where it originated
As
a Salsa instructor I hope I will be able to share all my knowledge
and energy, that I get from just listening to the music, with
my students
